5 things to remember about the Honda 0-Series Prototype
March 20 2025,
As part of a Canadian tour, the prototype of the Honda Series 0 SUV makes a stop in Quebec. This concept electric vehicle represents an important step in the Japanese automaker's energy transition. Presented for the first time at CES in Las Vegas in January 2025, this prototype reveals the direction Honda will take in terms of electrification and technology. Here are five key points to remember about this new kind of electric SUV.
- A first visit to Quebec
The Honda 0-Series SUV is being presented for the first time in Quebec as part of a cross-Canada tour. It is a concept vehicle that illustrates Honda's electric ambitions for the coming years. Its arrival in Quebec gives car enthusiasts and curious consumers a first concrete glimpse of what the future of the brand's SUVs could look like.
- Market launch scheduled for 2026
Honda plans to launch the production version of this electric SUV as early as 2026, starting with the North American market. It will be assembled in the USA, at the automaker's new facilities in Ohio. This model will join Honda's electric line-up, which has already begun with the Prologue. Although the price has not yet been revealed, it is already clear that it will be no more affordable than the Prologue.
- Interesting range and NACS charging port
According to initial information shared by Honda, the prototype is aiming for a range of around 480 kilometers, putting it in the upper mid-range of current electric SUVs. Developed in collaboration with LG, the battery is still rather mysterious, particularly as regards its capacity. The model will offer two powertrain options and will be exclusively equipped with the NACS charging port, which is becoming increasingly common in North America.
- Avant-garde design, but almost ready for production
The prototype features a sleek, modern design based on the philosophy of “slim, light and sensible”. Despite its futuristic lines, Honda claims that the production model will resemble the vehicle on show by around 90%. Some modifications, such as the addition of traditional mirrors in place of side cameras and a safety-compliant front bumper, will be made. The 21-inch wheels, contrasting black body elements and Yoke-style steering wheel are also currently under consideration.
- A showcase for Honda technology
Beyond its looks and electric powertrain, the prototype Honda Series 0 SUV also serves to demonstrate the brand's technological innovation. It incorporates SE ASIMO, an in-house operating system designed to manage the vehicle's electronic functions. This system could play an important role in the brand's future models, particularly for automated driving. The SUV thus becomes a rolling laboratory for future technologies.
The Honda 0-Series SUV prototype represents an important milestone in the Japanese automaker's electrification strategy. By combining bold design, promising autonomy and technological innovation, Honda offers a tangible glimpse of its ambitions for the years to come. Although certain details have yet to be confirmed, including the model's final name, one thing is certain: Honda is actively preparing its shift towards a more electric future.
