Honda Canada's Newest Addition - The Civic Hybrid 2025
January 19 2024,
In a significant move, Honda Canada has taken the wraps off the latest addition to its hybrid-electric vehicle lineup, the brand-new Civic Hybrid. This exciting development coincides with the announcement that the production of the 2025 Civic Hybrid is set to kick off this spring at the renowned Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM) facility, located in Alliston, Ontario.
A Legacy of Excellence and Manufacturing Milestones
The Civic, an iconic model within Honda's portfolio, made its debut in Canada half a century ago. Since then, it has remained a top choice among Canadian drivers, consistently ranking as one of the best-selling passenger cars for more than two and a half decades. HCM, a key player in the Civic's success story, commenced production in 1988. Recently, the facility marked a momentous achievement by rolling out its six-millionth Civic made in Canada in November 2023. Today, HCM boasts a workforce of 4,000 associates and has established itself as a global manufacturing leader for Honda, taking on the lead role in CR-V Hybrid production. The decision to produce the Civic Hybrid at HCM underlines Honda's unwavering commitment to Canadian manufacturing and its integral role in North American operations.
Civic Hybrid: Specs and Sales Projections
The 2025 Civic Hybrid is powered by Honda's cutting-edge two-motor hybrid-electric system, renowned for its exceptional performance. This innovative system is engineered to provide a sportier driving experience and enhanced fuel efficiency, especially during highway driving. Honda envisions that the Civic Hybrid will account for more than 40% of Civic sales in North America, a testament to the increasing consumer interest in hybrid vehicles.
Honda's Electrification Vision
As part of its broader electrification strategy, Honda is actively working toward achieving carbon neutrality in both its products and corporate operations by the year 2050. The company has set an ambitious target for battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles to make up 100% of its new vehicle sales by 2040. This transformative journey begins with the launch of the 2024 Honda Prologue, the first-ever all-electric SUV from Honda, and continues with the introduction of a mid- to large-size EV model in 2025. Notably, at the recent CES 2024 event, Honda Motor showcased its latest global electric vehicle series, the 'Honda 0 Series,' which includes the Saloon and Space-Hub concept models. A production model based on the Saloon concept is scheduled for release in 2026.
